May 04, (THEWILL) — The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reaffirmed its longstanding roots and growing national appeal, with its leading figure, Seriake Dickson, urging Nigerians to disregard misinformation and rally behind the party’s vision to rebuild the country.
Dickson stated that contrary to speculations, the NDC is not a newly formed political platform, disclosing that its registration process dates back to 2017.
He explained that the party had secured approval from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the time before the process was halted due to regulatory developments.
Providing further clarification, he noted that with the resumption of party registration by INEC last year, the NDC leadership revisited and updated its earlier application, demonstrating consistency and commitment to due process.
He added that supporting documents, including annexures, clearly establish the party’s early beginnings, while another record shows a Google search conducted on February 2, 2017, in the process of selecting the party’s “V-sign” logo.
The former governor emphasised that the NDC project has been carefully nurtured over the years, evolving into a broad-based political movement with participation from experienced leaders, grassroots mobilisers, and emerging voices across the country.
Acknowledging the challenges that often accompany ambitious political initiatives, Dickson said the party is not deterred by rumours, gossip, propaganda, or attempts at blackmail.
He described such developments as part of the political terrain, urging Nigerians to remain focused on the party’s broader mission.
“I therefore urge Nigerians to discountenance and ignore such propaganda about the NDC or any of its leaders and remain focused on the bigger picture,” he stated.
Reiterating the party’s commitment to inclusive governance, Dickson called on Nigerians from all walks of life to join the NDC, register as members, actively participate in its activities, and contest elections under its platform.
He stressed that the party is designed to serve both the powerful and the vulnerable, with a strong emphasis on national unity, institutional development, and long-term sustainability.
“Together, let us reclaim and rebuild our country,” Dickson declared, expressing confidence that the NDC represents a credible pathway toward a more stable, people-oriented, and ideologically driven political future.
