
April 02, (THEWILL) — The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Bayelsa State Command, on March 26, 2026, arrested one Chimezie Collins, popularly known as Mezico, the owner of ‘MEZICO Pharmacy’ located along Mbiam-Yenagoa road, Kpansia, Yenagoa. He was arrested in possession of 1,030 tablets/caplets of various controlled and hard drugs, including Tramadol 200mg, Tramadol 100mg, Swinol/Rophnol, Diazepam, Molly (a designer drug) totalling 1,900 tablets/caplets, 150 bottles of Diazepam and pentazocine injection, and 77 bottles of codeine with a total weight of 12.461kg, and a market value of about ₦3 million.
THEWILL gathered that Mezico is an unrepentant, notorious drug distributor of controlled and hard drugs who has been on the Command’s watchlist for about two years.
Reacting to the breakthrough arrest, the State Commander, Kanu Sunny Chukwuemeka, commended his officers for maintaining a high level of professionalism in the tracking and the subsequent arrest of the suspect.
The State Commander also expressed gratitude to the Chairman/Chief Executive of the agency, Brig. Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (OFR), for his visionary leadership through an intelligence-led framework in the fight against drug abuse/trafficking. He also thanked the Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Douye Diri, for his full support to the command in all of its efforts to cut down the supply and reduce the demand for drugs across Bayelsa State.
The State Commander again warned drug dealers and traffickers to desist or face the full wrath of the law.
