July 30, (THEWILL) – The lawmaker representing Borno South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Mohammed Ali Ndume, has again rejected a new office allocated to him by the Senate Services Committee.
THEWILL had reported that Ndume rejected his appointment as the new Chairman of the Senate Committee on Tourism following his removal as the Majority Whip of the Senate by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He had also been removed as vice chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation.
Rejecting the new office allocation, Ndume, in a letter addressed to Senator Sunday Karimi, Chairman of the Senate Services Committee, said the office, which is located on the third floor of the Senate New Building, is not befitting for him as one of the most ranking members in the 10th Senate.
Dated July 30, 2024, the letter titled: “Re: Office Allocation” and signed by his Chief Confidential Secretary, Yati Shuaibu Gawu, reads in part: “I am directed to inform you that Distinguished Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume has rejected the allocation of office number 3.10 by the Committee.
“This is because offices are traditionally allocated on a seniority basis.
“Sen Ndume is the most Senior Senator after Sen Ahmad Lawan and will only occupy an office on the fourth floor.”
