December 11, (THEWILL) — The Network of People Living With HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (NEPWHAN), Sokoto State Chapter, has applauded the Sokoto State Government for what it described as a renewed commitment to improving healthcare delivery across the state.
Speaking during a media roundtable in Sokoto, the State Coordinator of NEPWHAN, Comrade Hussaini Muh’d Gwadabawa, praised Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto for ensuring the steady availability of essential drugs for HIV, Tuberculosis (TB), and Malaria.
He noted that the intervention was particularly timely, coming at a period when external support from the United States had declined, leaving many patients anxious about continued access to life-saving medication.
Gwadabawa called for transparency and accountability from agencies responsible for implementing HIV, TB, and Malaria programmes, following the Governor’s approval of N1.8 billion for health interventions. He said NEPWHAN would monitor the process closely to guard against misuse of the funds.
The coordinator reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to working with the state government and development partners.
He urged the media to strengthen their reportage on healthcare systems and gains recorded under the RSSH C-19 Project across five local government areas.
