October 08, (THEWILL) – A Pan-Lagos Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Epe Youth Movement (EYM), has pledged its support for the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on his efforts at sanitising the state, reasoning that “attainment of conducive environment for human habitation is a collective responsibility for all to accomplish and not solely the government’s duty.”

Leader of the NGO, Ogbeni Adewale Oladipupo, in a statement in Epe on Sunday, therefore, urged all well-meaning people and residents of the state to take the responsibility of a cleaner Lagos seriously because of its importance to the living condition of man, adding that “any act that could improve and elongate the life span of the people should be taken seriously.”

According to him, the issue of conducive environment is not the kind of an issue to be treated with levity or be politicised, frowning at the conducts of some people and group of individuals, whose behaviours suggest that they are out to deliberately sabotage the efforts of Sanwo-Olu’s administration to achieve save environment for all and sundry.

Oladipupo who said over 90 per cent of the structures affected by the government officials’ actions did not pass integrity test, wondered, “Which responsible and responsive government would not take action till calamity strikes and causes irreparable damages,” urging the good people and responsible residents of Lagos to rally round Governor Sanwo-Olu and his team to sanitise the city for the benefit and comfort of the citizenry.

He said Sanwo-Olu’s promise of a better second term, Oladipupo emphasised, should be allowed to be a reality through collective efforts of all because, according to him, all hands must be on deck to ensure that a better second term in office is achieved, reminding that, “Good governance is a collective responsibility and not an exclusive duty of government and its functionaries.”

Against this background, the NGO boss therefore urged the people generally to set aside political affiliation, religious leaning and social inclination to come together to assist, support and cooperate with Governor Sanwo-Olu in his onerous task of sanitising the city further towards attaining complete Mega Status for the benefit and in the interest of all, saying, “it is then that all of us can beat our chests to say we are practically part of the success story of Lagos State.”

In conclusion, the NGO commended the Commissioner in charge of the environment in the state, Hon. Tokunbo Wahab for work being well done congratulating the governor on having a round peg in a round hole in the ministry of the environment.
