October 08, (THEWILL) – American gymnastics superstar, Simone Biles, continued her medal-winning streak at the 2023 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Antwerp, Belgium.
The 26-year-old captured four more medals, including gold in the balance beam and floor exercise finals on Sunday. On the beam, Biles scored an impressive 14.8 points with a near-flawless routine. Her dynamic floor exercise thrilled the crowd and judges alike, earning her top marks of 14.633.
With the floor gold, Biles has now won the event a remarkable six consecutive times at the World Championships. She also claimed her fourth career gold on the balance beam, after remarkable previous victories in 2014, 2015, 2019, 2023.
The haul of five medals in Belgium has brought Biles’ total from the Olympics and Worlds to 37, cementing her position as the most decorated gymnast ever with 34 combined medals. With 23 gold-winning performances, she now holds more gold medals than any other female gymnast in history.
Biles’ 21-year-old teammate Shilese Jones also impressed by winning all-around bronze and uneven bars bronze. At 26, Biles becomes the oldest American woman to win a World Championships medal.
