September 30, (THEWILL) — President Bola Tinubu on Monday held a high-level investment meeting in Lagos with two globally renowned Nigerian financiers, Hakeem Belo-Osagie and Bayo Ogunlesi.
Belo-Osagie is Chairman of Metis Capital Partners and a Senior Lecturer at Harvard Business School, while Ogunlesi is Chairman of Global Infrastructure Partners and Senior Managing Director at BlackRock. Also in attendance was the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Zacch Adedeji.
Talks focused on mobilising large-scale global capital for Nigeria’s upstream oil and gas sector and for critical infrastructure projects seen as key to long-term economic transformation.
The visiting investors praised the Tinubu administration’s reform initiatives, describing them as positive steps to strengthen Nigeria’s standing as a competitive destination for global capital.
Reaffirming his government’s commitment to an investor-friendly environment, Tinubu said:
“Nigeria is ready to collaborate with credible global partners to deliver energy security and the infrastructure that will power growth across Africa. Our sons of the soil, and other Nigerians in the Diaspora, are welcome partners.”
Belo-Osagie underscored the need to align oil and gas opportunities with sustainable financing models, while Ogunlesi highlighted the role of international private capital in bridging Nigeria’s infrastructure deficit. Both expressed readiness to work with government and private sector players on transformative projects.
The meeting is seen as part of the Tinubu administration’s wider reform drive to expand investment opportunities, deepen diaspora participation, and position Nigeria as Africa’s premier hub for energy and infrastructure financing
