February 19, (THEWILL) – Nigeria has pledged interest in maintaining stronger bilateral ties with The Gambia as it marked her 60th Independence Anniversary on Tuesday, February 18.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador  Yusuf Tuggar, expressed this position on Wednesday in a congratulatory message to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad, Dr. Mamadou Tangara.

Noting that Nigeria and Gambia share a long-standing relationship rooted in mutual respect and a common vision for a prosperous and united Africa, Tuggar expressed hope for deepening cooperation, particularly in addressing regional and global challenges.

He commended The Gambia for its remarkable progress and resilience since gaining independence from Britain on February 18, 1965.
