January 19, (THEWILL) — Nigeria, on Monday, marked a historic milestone in its global economic engagement as Vice President Kashim Shettima formally commissioned Nigeria House in Davos, Switzerland — the country’s first-ever sovereign pavilion at the World Economic Forum (WEF).
Speaking at the inauguration, Shettima said the establishment of Nigeria House reflects a deliberate shift from past approaches, positioning Nigeria as an active participant rather than an observer in global economic discussions.
He described the pavilion as a whole-of-government platform, led by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, designed to showcase Nigeria’s investment opportunities and deepen partnerships with global stakeholders.
The Vice President stressed that the success of the initiative would be driven largely by private sector leadership, innovation and capital, while government continues to provide enabling frameworks and risk mitigation. He highlighted early gains of the Bola Tinubu, administration, including stronger non-oil sector growth, easing inflation, rising foreign reserves and improved stability in the foreign exchange market.
Shettima invited global investors to leverage Nigeria House as a hub for dialogue, collaboration and partnership, noting that the initiative signals Nigeria’s readiness to integrate more strongly into global value chains.
Earlier, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole, described Nigeria House as a strong public-private partnership reflecting renewed investor confidence in the Nigerian economy. She said the launch of sector-specific investment playbooks aligns with government efforts to unlock opportunities in solid minerals, climate-smart agriculture, creative industries and the digital economy.
Other speakers at the event noted that the pavilion would serve as a centre for high-level engagements aimed at attracting non-oil investments and strengthening Nigeria’s role in global supply chains, reinforcing the country’s position as a destination for sustainable growth and innovation.
