December 11, (THEWILL) – Nigeria’s Ademola Adeyemi-Bero has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries for 2025.
The announcement was made during the 189th meeting of the OPEC Conference, according to Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri.
In a statement by the minister’s spokesperson, Nneamaka Okafor, Adeyemi-Bero was described as a seasoned professional with over 38 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of FIRST Exploration & Petroleum Development Company Limited, a leading Nigerian independent oil company.
Adeyemi-Bero had earlier been confirmed as Nigeria’s OPEC governor for 2025 before his elevation to chair the Board of Governors, a position regarded as critical in shaping global oil policies.
Lokpobiri noted that Adeyemi-Bero’s appointment marks a significant opportunity for Nigeria to influence energy policies that align with the interests of oil-producing nations, consumers, and the global economy.
The minister also expressed gratitude to Gabriel Aduda, the outgoing Nigerian OPEC Governor, commending his exemplary service.
He credited Aduda with advancing Nigeria’s interests within OPEC and ensuring the nation’s active role in international energy discussions.
