August 14, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian telecom sector is in dire straits, MTN Nigeria CEO, Karl Toriola, said on Tuesday.
Toriola, who likened the industry to a patient in intensive care, said it is in urgent need of intervention to prevent collapse.
Speaking at a telecom investment forum on Tuesday, Toriola stressed the necessity of price increases for telecom services, citing escalating operational costs.
The telecom giant’s warning comes amidst growing concerns about the sector’s health.
Toriola’s assessment stands in contrast to the optimistic outlook expressed by Airtel Nigeria CEO, Carl Cruz.
