December 19, (THEWILL) — The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has unveiled a pre-enrolment portal to improve efficiency and enhance the overall experience of applicants in the National Identification Number (NIN) registration process.

The digital platform allows prospective applicants, both within Nigeria and in the Diaspora, to capture and submit their biodata online ahead of physical visits to enrolment centres for biometric capture.

NIMC said the initiative was designed to reduce congestion, long queues and waiting time at enrolment centres across the country.

According to the Commission, the portal enables applicants to schedule appointments, upload supporting documents and manage their enrolment information online, thereby ensuring smoother and faster service delivery.

By allowing applicants to directly input their biodata, NIMC noted that the platform would also improve data accuracy and operational effectiveness.

The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of NIMC, Abisoye Coker-Odusote, described the initiative as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional performance through technology-driven solutions.

Coker-Odusote said the deployment of the portal aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritises digital transformation, efficient public service delivery and inclusive national development.

The Commission further assured the public that the portal was built with enhanced security features to guarantee the confidentiality and protection of users’ data throughout the enrolment process.

NIMC encouraged prospective NIN applicants to take advantage of the portal to enjoy a more seamless and efficient registration experience, noting that the initiative underscores its commitment to building a reliable and sustainable digital identity ecosystem to support national development.

Applicants can access the pre-enrolment portal via penrol.nimc.gov.
