January 10, (THEWILL) – The New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) Candidates Forum recently convened a closed-door meeting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, to discuss vital issues affecting the forum. With a sense of optimism and hope, the body extended its warmest congratulations to Governor Diri on his outstanding development achievements in the state and wished him, as well as the people of Bayelsa, a prosperous and joyful new year.
According to Honourable Eyanbri Dide, spokesman of the NNPP Candidates forum, the meeting provided a unique opportunity for the body to make a heartfelt appeal to Governor Diri and the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to consider including members of the NNPP Candidates forum in the appointment list of the prosperity government. This appeal is rooted in the agreements reached during various meetings held prior to the last gubernatorial election in the state, in which Governor Diri emerged victorious with a landslide win, thanks in part to the collaborative efforts between the NNPP Candidates forum and the PDP leadership.
Hon. Eyanbri Dide expressed his sincere disappointment and that of his colleagues, stating that despite the agreements reached, none of the members of the NNPP Candidates forum were included in the recent appointments made by the Governor. He emphasised the need for a revision of this situation in the new year, to ensure that members of the forum are appointed to key positions, where they can utilise their skills and expertise to contribute to the state’s growth and development.
“The NNPP Candidates forum, through its spokesman, Hon. Eyanbri Dide, is respectfully reminding Governor Diri, as well as the Director-General of his gubernatorial organisation and the PDP Chairman of their agreement and is calling on them to use their offices to remind the Governor of his commitment to the forum. The forum is confident that the Governor will honour his pledge and give due recognition to the contributions of its members.
“It is worth noting that all the appointments made by Governor Diri in the past month did not include any members of the N.N.P.P. Candidates forum, despite their significant contributions to the Governor’s electoral success. The forum is, therefore, urging the Governor to take a closer look at the agreement and appoint their members to key positions, as agreed upon during the pre-election meetings.
“Photographs of the PDP and N.N.P.P. candidates present during the collaboration meetings are available, serving as a reminder of the agreements reached and the commitment made by the parties involved. The NNPP Candidates forum remains hopeful and optimistic that Governor Diri will respond positively to their appeal and work together to build a brighter future for Bayelsa State.”
