November 26, (THEWILL) — The Federal Capital Territory Administration has dismissed reports claiming that government schools in the FCT would shut down by November 28, 2025, insisting that no such directive existed.

In a statement on Wednesday, Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, described the circulating report as false, misleading and capable of causing panic.

He stressed that the Minister did not approve any decision ordering early closure of schools in the territory.

Olayinka said Wike has ordered the suspension of the Mandate Secretary for Education, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, pending an investigation into the source of the misleading announcement.

He added that the Acting Head of Service, Mrs. Nancy Sabanti Nathan, has also been directed to initiate disciplinary action against the Director of School Services, Mrs. Aishatu Sani Alhassan, in line with civil service rules.

The administration reassured parents, students and school authorities that the approved academic calendar remains unchanged and urged the public to disregard the rumour.

It further assured residents of enhanced security around schools and other public facilities, noting that Wike has ordered the resumption of Operation Sweep alongside other security measures across the territory.
