May 10, (THEWILL) – Northern governors have reaffirmed commitment to collective action in addressing the security and socio-economic challenges confronting the region.
The commitment was part of the decision reached in Kaduna on Saturday, at a meeting of the Northern Governors’ Forum.
The Director-General, Press Affairs, Gombe Government House, Ismaila Misilli, said the meeting was convened by the NGF Chairman and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammad Yahaya.
The Forum Chairman and Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, said the region is plagued by insecurity, poverty, and underdevelopment, which require a regional, rather than isolated approach. He urged enhanced collaboration among the states to ensure more effective and impactful interventions.
The host governor, Uba Sani, emphasised strategic partnerships with development agencies like UNICEF and other international organisations in areas of education, healthcare, and youth empowerment across the region.
Charting a united front, the governors promised to ensure the alignment of development strategies, share resources, and coordinate responses to transform the Northwest into a more secure and prosperous zone.
