December 17, (THEWILL) — The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, has assured residents of a safe and peaceful Christmas celebration, following the deployment of 4,000 personnel across the territory to bolster security before, during, and after the festive period.
The announcement was made in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Monica Ojobi, following directives from the FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu.
According to the statement, Odumosu instructed officers to be strategically positioned across all parts of the FCT to safeguard lives, property, and Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI).
He noted that undercover operatives have also been deployed for covert surveillance and intelligence gathering to prevent emergencies or unforeseen incidents during the Yuletide.
The operation involves specialised units of the Corps, including the Arms Squad, Crack Squad, CNAI Unit, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) Unit, Female Strike Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, and Agro Rangers.
Odumosu further directed area commanders and divisional officers to ensure comprehensive security coverage across all area councils.
“All hands must be on deck. I will not tolerate any form of security breach. Ensure strict compliance by your personnel,” he warned, urging officers to maintain professionalism, cooperate with other security agencies, and strictly follow rules of engagement, cautioning against harassment, intimidation, or accidental discharge.
While assuring residents of adequate protection, the NSCDC boss advised the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activity. He also warned criminals and vandals to steer clear of critical national assets, noting that covert operatives and patrol teams are fully deployed across the city.
Odumosu extended warm wishes to residents of the FCT and Christians nationwide, praying for a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
