December 11, (THEWILL) — The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has directed newly trained personnel to immediately deploy the advanced tactical knowledge and precision skills acquired during their training to bolster internal security operations and enhance VIP protection services across the country.
Audi gave the charge on Thursday during the Passing-Out Parade of the second batch of the VIP Proficiency Course 002 in Abuja.
Represented by ACG Muktar Lawal, the Assistant Commandant General in charge of Training and Manpower Development, the CG stressed that high-risk protective assignments require exceptional alertness, emotional intelligence, discipline and strict adherence to rules of engagement. He urged the graduating officers to uphold professionalism, integrity and high operational standards as ambassadors of the Corps.
Reiterating his commitment to continuous training and manpower development, Audi said the course in Basic Tactical Skills and Weapon Handling was designed to equip officers with modern tactical competence, advanced weapon-handling techniques and the mental readiness required for sensitive security duties.
He also reminded the personnel that the weapons entrusted to them represent institutional trust and must be handled with the highest sense of responsibility and accountability.
A total of 208 officers drawn from the 36 state commands, the Federal Capital Territory and the National Headquarters completed the intensive programme, which was conducted under the supervision of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).
Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday reaffirmed his directive for the immediate withdrawal of police officers attached to VIPs, insisting that Nigeria can no longer afford to divert critical security manpower away from conflict-prone areas grappling with terrorism, kidnapping and violent crimes.
To prevent exposing individuals who were previously under police protection, the President directed the Ministry of Interior to work with the Inspector-General of Police and the NSCDC to provide alternative security arrangements.
