December 19, (THEWILL) –Â The president of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Engineer Babagana Muhammed FNSE, has charged his colleagues to emulate Calabar engineers for their professionalism and commitment to service.
He gave the charge in Calabar while rounding off this year’s NSE Engineering Week organised by the Calabar branch of the organisation.
He said engineers in Calabar came together despite the lockdown to build an excellent monument for themselves from their professional dues.
This, he said, is quite impressive as everything should not be about the government.
He said, “We came to Calabar to celebrate engineers for the feat they have attained, it is not easy working through the year and then closing on a very good note.
“Look at the achievement recorded, despite COVID-19, lockdown, the engineers came together in peace to build an excellent monument without with their professional dues without government support.
“I’m highly impressed with this and this is one of the best in the country.
“Other engineers from other parts of the country should emulate what Calabar Engineers have done because everything cannot be about government.”
He said the association is happy with the state governor, Professor Ben Ayade, for the industrialisation going on in the state.
He charged engineers to be ethical and honest while carrying out their tasks.
Also speaking, Engineer Ndifon Agbiji, FNSE, the chairman, NSE Calabar branch, said the essence of the week is to celebrate engineers and chronicle their achievements within the year.
He also said the celebration will unify the branch and bridge the gap between senior and junior colleagues.
As part of the celebration, four engineers in the branch were honored for their outstanding performance: Engineer Bassey Nsentip, Professor Augustine Angba, Engineer Godwin Akeke, and Engineer Ubong Umoren.
