
April 17, (THEWILL) — In a significant endorsement of service excellence in Nigeria’s aviation industry, the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council, has conferred an Award of Excellence on Ibom Air for its outstanding customer experience.
The award was presented during a working visit to the airline’s headquarters at the Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo on Friday, April 17, 2026.
Leading the delegation, Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Comrade Bassey Anthony, praised Ibom Air for consistently delivering world-class service, noting that the airline has redefined standards in Nigeria’s domestic aviation space.
He also acknowledged the airline’s support for the Chapel’s annual Correspondents’ Week.
Upon receiving the honour, Chief Executive Officer of Ibom Air, George Uriesi, expressed appreciation for the recognition, describing it as a source of motivation to sustain high service standards.
He commended members of the press for their role in shaping public perception and urged continued commitment to factual and balanced reporting.
Also present at the event were Amaka Echetabu, Director of Airline Services, and Aniekan Essienette, Group Manager, Marketing and Communications.
The visit reinforced the longstanding relationship between the NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel and Ibom Air, with both parties reaffirming their shared commitment to excellence and the advancement of Akwa Ibom State.
Ibom Air is a state-owned airline established by the Akwa Ibom State Government. Since commencing operations in 2019, the carrier has built a reputation for reliability, punctuality, and high service standards.
