February 09, (THEWILL) – Professor Micheal Ugota Awoke has been appointed the new Vice-Chancellor of Ebonyi State University (EBSU), succeeding Professor Chigozie Ogbu, who assumed the role in November 2017 after Professor Idike Francis.

Micheal Ugota Awoke is a Professor of Agricultural Economics at the Ebonyi State University.

The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Francis Nwifuru made the disclosure on Sunday, following an announcement made by the Governor of the State, Francis Nwifuru.

In a related development, the governor also lifted the suspension of four commissioners.

They include the commissioners for Housing and Urban Development, Francis Ori, Health, Ekuma Moses; Water Resources, Chinedum Nkah; and Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Igwe Uchenna.

THEWILL recalls that last year, in addition to the three Commissioners, the governor also suspended the reinstated Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, along with the executive secretaries of the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency and the Ebonyi State Health Insurance Agency.

According to Jude Okpor, the Commissioner for Information, the officials were suspended for alleged misconduct and dereliction of duty.
