April 08, (THEWILL) — The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has released the full schedule of activities for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II Orientation Course, setting the stage for another nationwide exercise aimed at fostering unity, discipline, and national development among Nigerian graduates.
According to the scheme’s management, the 21-day orientation programme will be conducted simultaneously across all 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, ensuring a coordinated and inclusive exercise for all prospective corps members.
The orientation course is scheduled to begin with the reception and registration of Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
Registration activities will continue until midnight on Friday, April 24, 2026, allowing participants ample time to complete documentation and settle into camp facilities.
A major highlight of the exercise will be the swearing-in ceremony, which is set to take place on Friday, April 24, 2026.
During the ceremony, PCMs will formally take the oath of allegiance, marking the official commencement of their national service year and their commitment to serving the country with integrity and patriotism.
The orientation programme will run through a structured schedule of physical training, lectures, leadership development sessions, and social activities designed to equip corps members with the skills and mindset required for national service.
The course is expected to conclude on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, after which corps members will proceed to their respective places of primary assignment.
In a message accompanying the announcement, NYSC management extended goodwill to all mobilised graduates, wishing them safe journeys to their various orientation camps across the country.
The scheme also reiterated its long-standing advisory against night travel, emphasizing the importance of safety during transit.
Prospective corps members were strongly advised to break their journeys once it is 6:00 p.m. and seek safe accommodation for the night.
Suggested locations include designated Corps Members’ Lodges, military formations, police stations or outposts, and even palaces of traditional rulers where available, before continuing their trips the following morning.
