December 31, (THEWILL) — Former Nigerian President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo is set to chair the 2025 Future Africa Leaders Awards (FALA) during the New Year’s Eve Service with Pastor Chris Oyakhilome.
The event takes place tonight, Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at the LoveWorld Crusade Ground along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, Asese, Ogun State.
The ceremony, scheduled to commence at 8:00 p.m., features former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta as the Special Guest of Honour and Keynote Speaker. Former Kenyan Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka is also expected as a distinguished guest at the prestigious continental event.
President Kenyatta arrived in Lagos on Monday and was received at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport by a high-powered delegation from the Central Executive Council of LoveWorld Incorporated.
The reception team was led by Highly Esteemed Rev. Tom Amenkhienan and included Rev. Ray Okocha, Pastor Ambrose Isesele, and the Executive Director of the Future Africa Leaders Foundation (FALF), Dr. Deola Phillips, who also serves as the CEO of LoveWorld Incorporated.
Dr. Olajumoke Ola-Akisanya, Senior Executive Officer of FALF, emphasised that this edition reflects the foundation’s unwavering commitment to recognizing transformative leadership.
She noted that the presence of respected statesmen such as President Obasanjo, President Uhuru Kenyatta, and Rt. Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka further affirms the continental relevance and credibility of the awards.
She disclosed that 31 nominees have been shortlisted for honours this year following a highly competitive selection process that attracted over 200 applications from across Africa.
The finalists represent diverse sectors including governance and social development, entrepreneurship and technology, as well as education and humanitarian service.
“Our focus was on measurable impact, ethical leadership, and innovation,” Ola-Akisanya added.
She noted that hosting the awards during the global New Year’s Eve Service offers a unique platform to inspire a new generation of African leaders to pursue purpose-driven leadership with integrity and vision.
Now in its 13th year, FALA has established itself as a premier platform for celebrating youth leadership on the continent, while the New Year’s Eve Service with Pastor Chris remains a globally recognized spiritual gathering attracting millions of participants online and in person.
