August 13, (THEWILL) — The Ogun State Government has extended by two weeks the deadline for property owners and occupiers affected by the ongoing physical development audit to submit their title documents.
Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Tunji Odunlami, announced the extension in a statement on Wednesday in Abeokuta, saying it was to give property owners and developers more time to present their planning permits or regularize unapproved developments with the ministry and its agencies.
Odunlami said the decision was in response to appeals from affected property owners in Sagamu and Ijebu-Ode, adding that it reflected the government’s goodwill and commitment to the rule of law and transparency.
He said, “This magnanimity does not in any way undermine the government’s constitutional and statutory actions already taken on the matter”
“The ongoing audit is not a witch-hunt but a continuous effort to ensure sustainable urban development across the state.”
The commissioner stressed that all affected property owners should take advantage of the extension to comply, warning that the government would proceed with enforcement after the new deadline lapses.
