November 12, (THEWILL) – Benin City witnessed a celebratory atmosphere on Tuesday as Senator Monday Okpebholo took the oath of office as the new Governor of Edo State, alongside his Deputy, Hon. Dennis Idahosa.

The inauguration, marking the official transfer of power from former Governor Godwin Obaseki, drew a large crowd of supporters and dignitaries at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, the venue of the swearing-in ceremony.

The Chief Judge of Edo State, Justice Daniel Okungbowa, administered the oath of office to both Okpebholo and Idahosa, formalising their roles following their victory in the September 21 governorship election.

Enthusiastic residents, loyal supporters of the All Progressives Congress, and guests from across the country gathered to celebrate the historic occasion.

In his inaugural address, Okpebholo promised a leadership focused on advancing infrastructure, driving industrial growth, and creating job opportunities for Edo’s citizens.

He emphasised his administration’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of the people, assuring that the needs and aspirations of Edo residents would guide his government’s actions.

“We are committed to building a better Edo State that offers prosperity and security for all,” Okpebholo said.
