BEVERLY HILLS, July 8, (THEWILL) – Ex-Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, has called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to pay him and his assistant, Francois Loscuito their outstanding wages without litigation.
Oliseh, on his Twitter handle, revealed that the Amaju Pinnick led NFF has disregarded letters from Loscuito’s lawyer and feared the Court of Arbitration for Sports could clamp down heavily on the country.
“Hope the NFF will pay coach Losciuto and myself the huge amounts they still owe us without litigation whilst we are alive! Pray they listen,” he tweeted.
The ex-Eagles’ captain resigned as Eagles coach on February 26 over unpaid wages and several clashes with the NFF, media and fans after Nigeria’s early exit from the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Rwanda.
Meanwhile, the NFF has announced a shortlist of three coaches for consideration for the post of Chief Coach of Super Eagles, and will name the successful one after an interview with the coaches scheduled for July 18.
A statement by the NFF on Friday in Abuja listed the three coaches to include Super Eagles’ caretaker coach Salisu Yusuf, former Ethiopia coach Tom Saintfiet, and Frenchman Paul Le Guen, who once coached Cameroon.
“On Friday at the Glass House, the NFF Technical and Development Committee pored over more than 20 applications before cutting the list to three,” the statement read.
“Among those who showed interest in coaching the Super Eagles are Giovanni Solinas, Saintfiet, Hey Antoine, Mark Wotte, Yusuf, Miodrag Jesic, Ernesto Paulo Calvinho, Dorian Marin, and Le Guen.
“Others are Perry Hansen, Vladimir Petrovic-Pizon, Lodewijk de Kruif, Kenichi Yatsuhashi, Bjorn Frank Peters, Ricki Herbert, Ove Pedersen, Adebayo Lateef Kola, Sylvanus Okpala and Peter Ijeh.
Speaking on the development, Chairman of NFF’s Technical and Development Committee, Chris Green, said the shortlist was on the basis of a set of criteria.
“We set a criteria with which we evaluated the nearly two dozen applications and then agreed on the three persons that we shortlisted.
“The Committee will now meet on July 18 to interview the shortlisted candidates and immediately name the next Super Eagles’ Head Coach,” he said.
