August 11, (THEWILL) — The Ondo State Government has dismissed reports of a political rift between Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and his deputy, Olayide Adelami.
In a statement on Monday, the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, John Paul Akinduro, described as false a Sahara Reporters publication alleging a power struggle and denial of access to the deputy governor’s official residence.
Akinduro condemned the report as “yellow journalism,” insisting that Adelami and Aiyedatiwa share mutual respect and a cordial working relationship.
He said Governor Aiyedatiwa had, upon assuming office, ordered the renovation of the deputy governor’s residence, which has since been completed.
He also dismissed claims that Adelami was staying in a “ramshackle hotel” or had ever been locked out of his lodge.
The statement added that Adelami continues to publicly commend his principal’s commitment to democratic ideals, urging those peddling “tales of division” to work with the administration to realise “the Ondo State of our dreams.”
