April 02, (THEWILL) — United States President Donald Trump has declared that Washington is on the verge of achieving its core military objectives in Iran, raising optimism about a possible end to the ongoing conflict and a return to stability in global security and energy markets.
In his first major address since launching coordinated strikes with Israel, Trump said the United States is “nearing completion” of its mission under the ongoing military campaign known as Operation Epic Fury, which began in late February.
“We are on track to complete all the objectives,” Trump stated, expressing confidence that the operation could conclude swiftly, even as diplomatic engagements with Iran continue.
The US President emphasised that while talks remain ongoing, Washington is prepared to intensify military pressure in the coming weeks if negotiations fail to yield results. He projected that decisive actions over the next two to three weeks could bring the operation to a close.
Despite the firm stance, Trump highlighted a strategic restraint aimed at preserving long-term recovery prospects for Iran. He noted that critical oil infrastructure described as the “easiest target”, has not been struck, in order to avoid crippling the country’s future rebuilding capacity.
Reaffirming his administration’s position, Trump warned that any attempt by Iran to revive its nuclear programme would trigger further military action. He noted that previously targeted nuclear facilities remain under close surveillance and would take months to recover, effectively limiting Iran’s immediate capabilities.
Providing an update on battlefield progress, Trump said the operation has significantly degraded Iran’s military strength.
According to him, the country’s missile and drone capabilities have been “dramatically curtailed,” with weapons production facilities and launch systems destroyed.
He further disclosed that Iran’s naval forces have been neutralised and its air power severely weakened, while leadership structures within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have been disrupted.
These gains, he said, are central to preventing future threats and ensuring long-term regional security.
The operation, launched to dismantle Iran’s nuclear ambitions and weaken its military infrastructure, has also been framed as part of broader efforts to stabilise global security.
On the economic front, Trump expressed optimism that global energy markets could rebound once hostilities subside.
He projected that oil and gas prices would ease as key maritime routes, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, reopen fully to international trade.
“Buy oil from America, we have plenty of it,” he said, underscoring the United States’ growing energy independence and its potential role in stabilising supply.
While he stopped short of announcing a definitive end date, Trump maintained that the mission could be completed “very fast,” signalling confidence in both military progress and diplomatic possibilities.
