May 07, (THEWILL) — The leading aspirant for the Ogbia Constituency II seat in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Anyam Kaiser Otobo, has promised equitable representation if elected into the assembly in the 2027 elections.
Otobo made the pledge while fielding questions from newsmen on Wednesday, at the party’s secretariat in Yenagoa, the state capital, shortly after submitting his nomination form.
He added that it was time a proper link was built between constituents and their representatives in the state legislature, stressing that it is a sure way for effective and efficient service delivery for democratic dividends to get to the grassroots.
“I’m not promising to come build skyscrapers for the constituency. Of course, as a lawmaker, you’ll look at what comes to you for the execution of projects. But what I can assure you is that I will connect my constituents with the government.
“The major problem we have as a people is the issue of abandonment of the constituents and those who sacrificed their all to work for our lawmakers during elections. Most often, it appears that our lawmakers forget about those who elected them into the legislative houses. And that is one thing I am coming to correct when elected.”
The assembly hopeful, who also shared his mind on his political antecedents, said he has previously served twice as a councillor in his ward at the Ogbia local government area, and that he has also served as a supervisory councillor in the same local government area.
He noted that when elected, he would bring his experience to bear in representing his constituency.
“Twice I was a Councillor in my ward, and I was also appointed as a Supervisory Councillor at a particular time. In the departments where I served as Supervisory Councillor, there was nothing, but upon assuming those offices, I made something out of those places”, he added.
