
April 08, (THEWILL) – Pascal Gabriel Dozie, founder of the defunct Diamond Bank Plc and a former chairman of MTN Nigeria, has died at the age of 85 from an undisclosed ailment, a source close to the family has told THEWILL.
Born on April 9, 1939, in Egbu, Owerri, Imo State, Pascal Dozie attended the London School of Economics & Political Science. where he obtained an undergraduate degree in Economics. He obtained a master’s in Administrative Science from City University in London.
Dozie, an entrepreneur and businessman, is the founder of Diamond Bank and the chairman of Pan-Atlantic University. He is also a founding partner of Africa Capital Alliance, the first Nigerian private equity fund manager.
A former President of Nigerian Exchange Group, Dozie was also the Chairman of The Nigerian Economic Summit Group from 1993 to 2000.
Dozie’s impact on the telecommunications industry is particularly noteworthy. He played a crucial role in the establishment of MTN Nigeria, one of the country’s largest and most successful telecommunications companies.
PGD, as he was fondly called by friends, Dozie is survived by his wife, Chinyere, and five sons.
