
January 22, (THEWILL) – Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested some criminal suspects, including 36-year-old Muhammed Kabir, Donald Okpere and Haruna Ibrahim, for impersonating military personnel and using fake alerts to purchase items from unsuspecting members of the public.
Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who disclosed this on Wednesday in Abuja, said 22 kidnapped victims were also rescued across the country.
Parading the suspects in Abuja, ACP Adejobi disclosed that 179 armed robbery, 100 kidnapping and 152 murder/homicide suspects were arrested by the operatives.
While 34 suspects were involved in unlawful possession of prohibited firearms, 77 were nabbed for rape and 110 for cultism. A total of 73 firearms, 310 ammunition of various calibres and 56 stolen vehicles were recovered.
Adejobi said some members of a renowned gang, specialising in stealing motorcycles from farmers in Lagos and Ogun States, were also arrested.
While 15 motorcycles were recovered from the gang, some of their members, including Sunday Okwo Ade, Monday Solomon, David Emmanuel and Shakiru Badmus, were arrested.
Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Force to remain steadfast to the core principle of policing.
