December 09, (THEWILL) – Police in Ogun state have arrested a suspected serial killer, Ibiyemi Wasiri, for the murder of two persons and terrorising Ilaro community and its environs.
The suspect, and a former convict, was arrested December 6, 2021.
The ex-convict is suspected of killing one Michael Abiodun a.k.a S1 on July, 22, 2021, and one Kola Fagbemi on July, 24, 2021.
The suspect is said to have confessed that he bought the gun he used to kill the two people from Benin Republic.
His arrest came following information received at Ilaro divisional headquarters that the suspect had been sighted in a criminal hideout at Igboro area of Ilaro.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta on Thursday.
Oyeyemi said that upon receiving the information, the DPO of Ilaro division, CSP Olayemi Jacob, quickly mobilized his men and moved to the scene, where the suspect, who was in the midst of some hoodlums, was arrested.
He said that one cut-to-size locally made pistol and seven live cartridges were recovered from a bag found on him
Meanwhile, the commissioner of police CP Lanre Bankole has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation.
