November 12, (THEWILL) — Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have recovered a suspected stolen vehicle and a cache of arms following a late-night operation in Uyo.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, said in a statement that the recovery was made at about 11:30 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025, during a routine surveillance patrol along Mbak Itam III by Nassarawa Market.
The patrol team reportedly sighted a black Toyota Camry with registration number LND 360 DC, suspected to have been stolen. On spotting the police, the four occupants of the car abandoned the vehicle and fled into a nearby bush.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of two locally made pistols, four live cartridges, two Tecno Android phones, a battle axe, a machete, a battery charger, two vehicle number plates (BKS 705 DD), and two black head gears believed to be used for criminal activities.
The vehicle has been impounded as part of ongoing investigations.
Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, has ordered a discreet investigation to track down the fleeing suspects and uncover their criminal network. He urged residents to continue to support security efforts with timely and credible information.
He said the incident highlights the effectiveness of the Command’s intensified night patrol strategy, which has recently led to several arrests and recoveries across the state.
