June 02, (THEWILL) – Authorities of the Bayelsa State Police Command have confirmed the identity of the female corpse found in a hotel along Igbogene community in Yenagoa Local Government area of the state to be that of a commercial sex worker.

According to the Police, the deceased corpse was a 22-year-old commercial sex worker domiciled at the “Ashawo Quarters” along Okarki community, a neighbouring town to Bayelsa State.

The confirmation of the identity of the corpse also put to rest the claims that the deceased was a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The Police Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, Musa Mohammed, confirmed to newsmen that the incident, which occurred on Wednesday, has triggered a forensic investigation to unravel the identity of the suspected killers.

Musa Mohammed, who confirmed that the incident occurred on Saturday, revealed that the deceased was lodged in the hotel with the fleeing young man suspected to be an Internet fraudster, popularly known as ‘Yahoo boy’.

According to him, “The deceased is identified as Miss Francisca Otu, 22, and an Indigene of Omubo community in Akwa Ibom State.

“A receptionist at the Favour Home Guest House, Rachael Adaora, called the police to inform us that the body of the deceased was found naked and lifeless in one of the rooms.

“The DPO led a team of policemen from Igbogene Police Division to the scene and evacuated the corpse.”
