
July 14, (THEWILL) — Police in Ogun have launched an investigation to unravel the killer of a suspected 44-year-old cultist, Bashiru Saidu, in the Ota area of the state.
Saidu, a member of Eiye Cult Group, was reportedly shot dead during cultists clash for supremacy in Atan, Ado/Odo Ota Local Government Area.
He was shot in the head on Sunday and abandoned in his pool of blood.
Four assailants, who were said to have arrived at the scene on two motorcycles, engaged in a cult clash, which resulted in the death of the victim, and fled the scene immediately.
Reacting to the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed this to newsmen in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Odutola said that the Command had begun an investigation into the matter to reveal the perpetrator, as men of the anti-cult unit had been sent out to capture the attackers.
She said, “The Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation into a fatal cult-related incident that claimed the life of one Bashiru Saidu, aged 44, along Bankole Onibukun Street, Atan-Ota in the Atan-Ota area of the state.
“His body was evacuated and deposited at the State Hospital Mortuary, Ilaro, for further examination.”
She admonished Ota residents to stay vigilant and inform the closest police station of any suspicious activity.
