November 10, (THEWILL) — Akwa Ibom State Police Command says it has dismantled a three-man armed robbery syndicate operating across parts of the state, recovering a cache of dangerous weapons and stolen items.

According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, the suspects were arrested during a coordinated, intelligence-led operation conducted around 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025, at a native doctor’s residence in Ikot Ineme Village.

The suspects, identified as Akan Udo (40) of Ikot Edem Udo Village and Namso Monday (20) of Ikot Umo Essien Odoro Ikot Village, were apprehended while reportedly receiving treatment for undisclosed ailments.

The native doctor, alleged to have provided cover for the criminal gang, fled the scene and is currently being pursued by police operatives.

Further investigations led to the arrest of a third suspect, Mbata Udo (40) of Ikot Ukpong Offiong Village, believed to be a key member of the robbery ring.

Items recovered from the suspects include: one locally made pistol, one locally made revolver pistol, sixteen machetes, six mobile phones, two big generators, one battle axe, one plier and other incriminating exhibits.

The statement said the recovered items are linked to several armed robbery operations in the area. The suspects are in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Commending the operatives for their swift and coordinated action, the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order across the state. He assured residents that the police will continue to “pursue criminal elements with precision and ensure the state remains safe for all law-abiding citizens.”

The Command, however, urged members of the public to remain vigilant and to provide timely information that could assist in combating crime, especially as the festive season approaches.
