July 30, (THEWILL) — The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has announced the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the arrest of a suspect in connection with the theft.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, the incident occurred on July 18, 2025, when the owner of a Toyota Camry (name withheld), parked the car at a hospital in Abak Local Government Area for a medical appointment.
The owner reported that he had received a tally card at the gate around 1:45 p.m., but returned to find the vehicle missing before his appointment concluded.
Following an intelligence-driven stop-and-search operation on July 26, 2025, operatives sighted the stolen vehicle at about 9:30 p.m. along Ikot Ekpene Road Main Park. One Otoabasi George Ime was found in possession of the vehicle and claimed he had purchased it from a car stand located along Ikot Ekpene Road in Uyo.
The suspect and the recovered vehicle are currently in police custody as discreet investigations continue.
The Command assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted and the outcome made known in due course.
