August 18, (THEWILL) — The Borno State Police Command said it has recovered an unexploded ordnance (UXO) from farmland in Dikwa Local Government Area of the state.

According to police, the operation began after farmer Babagana Kachalla reported a suspicious object on his land.

The State Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, deployed the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team from Maiduguri to the site.

“Officers cordoned off the area and identified the device as a 2.2-metre-long Cluster Bomb Unit (CBU). The EOD team carried out a controlled demolition before removing the munitions. No casualties were reported”, he said.

Police spokesperson, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, said residents received safety training on handling explosive hazards.
