SAN FRANCISCO, January 20, (THEWILL) – The police in Abuja have released the publisher of Premium Times, Dapo Olorunyomi, and the online publication’s judiciary correspondent, Evelyn Okakwu, after keeping them for several hours on Thursday.
They were later released on bail and instructed to report at the FCT Police Command Headquarters by 8am on Friday morning.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Don Awunah, had said the raid on the newspaper’s office was sequel to complaints filed by the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai’s lawyers.
The journalists were taken to the police headquarters at Garki 2, Abuja, and later transferred to a police station at Wuse around 9:22pm, and eventually released.
Confirming the release in a tweet, Premium Times wrote on Twitter, “We are happy to announce that both @DapsyOly and @EveOkakwu have been released on bail”.
