June 11, (THEWILL) — The Presidency has alerted the public to the activities of a purported organisation known as the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, declaring that no such office exists under the administration of President Bola Tinubu and disowning claims by one Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi of having been appointed by the government.
The disclaimer was contained in a public notice issued on Thursday by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, who said the attention of the Federal Government had been drawn to representations allegedly being made by Adeyemi under the banner of the purported council.
According to Gbajabiamila, Adeyemi has been portraying himself to members of the public as having received an appointment from the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President.
The Presidency, however denied the claim, describing it as false and misleading.
“It has come to the notice of the Federal Government of Nigeria and specifically the Office of the Chief of Staff to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, that a certain Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, under the auspices of an alleged organisation styled as the ‘Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council’, is portraying himself to the general public as having been appointed by my office,” the statement read.
Gbajabiamila stressed that the purported council has no official status or recognition under the current administration and that no appointment had been made in connection with such an entity.
“The unsuspecting public is hereby advised to note that such an office does not exist under this administration and no appointment has been made in that regard,” he stated.
The Presidency further called on foreign and diplomatic missions, financial and multilateral institutions, development organisations, security agencies and other stakeholders to take note of the disclaimer and disregard any claims suggesting official backing or endorsement by the Federal Government.
It also urged members of the public to verify the authenticity of appointments and official representations through established government channels to avoid falling victim to misinformation or fraudulent schemes.
The Government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the integrity of public institutions and preventing the misuse of the names of government offices and officials for personal or unauthorized purposes.
