August 28, (THEWILL) — President Bola Tinubu returned to Abuja early Thursday from a 12-day diplomatic tour in Japan and Brazil.
The presidential jet took off from Brasília International Airport Air Force Base at 12:57 pm (local time) on Wednesday.
Upon arrival in Nigeria Thursday morning, he was welcomed at the Presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja, by cabinet officials, including NSA, Nuhu Ribadu.
The President departed Abuja on August 15, for a two-nation visit. He had made stopped over in Dubai, UAE, and arrived in Yokohama, Japan, on August 18, for the ninth Tokyo International Conference for African Development( TICAD9).
President Tinubu departed Yokohama, Japan, last Thursday for Brazil, with a stopover in Los Angeles, United States, before continuing his journey to Brasilia, the capital of Brazil. He arrived in Brasília on Monday for a two-day official state visit.
The trips highlights the president’s role as a Global Diplomat, engaging key international partners to secure investments and strengthen Nigeria’s position on the world stage.
While in Japan, Tinubu attended the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9). The conference focused on Africa’s economic transformation.
In Brazil, he met with President Luiz da Silva. Both leaders signed several memoranda of understanding (MoUs). The MoUs cover sectors like aviation, foreign affairs, and agriculture.
The tour signals a strategic shift towards leveraging international partnerships for economic growth and development.
