July 10 (THEWILL) — The Police Service Commission (PSC) has disowned a fake press release circulating on social media claiming that successful applicants in the ongoing Nigeria Police Force recruitment exercise have been scheduled for medical screening between July 16 and July 22, 2026, warning candidates and the general public to disregard the fraudulent publication.
THEWILL reports that the fake statement also claimed that a portal would be activated on July 14, 2026, for candidates to print their medical screening slips.
It further referenced a purported “State Police Act 2026” and alleged postings of recruits to their states of origin.
However, in an official disclaimer signed on Friday by the Commission’s Head of Protocol and Public Relations, Torty Njoku Kalu, the PSC described the publication as entirely false and the handiwork of fraudsters seeking to mislead unsuspecting applicants.
The Commission stressed that it did not issue the statement and urged all candidates participating in the recruitment exercise to ignore the misleading information.
According to the PSC, no date has yet been fixed for the next phase of the recruitment process, including medical screening, adding that an official announcement would be made after the conclusion of necessary consultations.
The Commission disclosed that it held a stakeholders’ meeting on Thursday, July 9, 2026, involving officials of the PSC, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Federal Character Commission (FCC), and the Ministry of Police Affairs to deliberate on the next stage of the ongoing recruitment exercise.
It stated that a formal statement detailing the outcome of the meeting and the next phase of the recruitment exercise would be released in due course.
“The Police Service Commission he,ld a stakeholders’ meeting yesterday, July 9, 2026, attended by officials from the PSC, Nigeria Police Force, Federal Character Commission and the Ministry of Police Affairs.
“The Commission will issue an official statement in due course on the outcome of the meeting and the next phase of the recruitment exercise into the Nigeria Police Force,” the statement said.
The Commission advised all applicants and members of the public to rely solely on information disseminated through its verified communication channels.
It listed its official website, recruitment portal, official email address and verified social media platforms as the only authentic sources for updates relating to the recruitment exercise.
The PSC also reiterated that recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force remains completely free, warning applicants not to pay money to any individual or group claiming to facilitate recruitment or secure appointments.
It cautioned candidates against falling victim to misinformation and fraudulent schemes, adding that anyone involved in circulating fake recruitment notices or engaging in recruitment-related fraud would face the full weight of the law.
The PSC urged candidates to remain patient and await official communication, assuring them that all genuine information would be released through its verified platforms at the appropriate time.
