October 17, (THEWILL) — The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotions and appointment of senior police officers.
A statement signed on Friday by the Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, said the Commission approved the elevation of AIG Dankwara Adamu Mohammed to the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, representing the North-East geopolitical zone. He replaces DIG Sahabu Abubakar Yahaya, who recently retired from service.
The commission also confirmed the promotion of CP Abibo Deinma Reuben to the rank of Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police.
At its second plenary meeting held at the Solomon Arase Conference Hall, presided over by Chairman DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd.), the Commission approved the promotion of eleven Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) to substantive Commissioners. Among them are Naziru Bello Kankarofi, Nendel Joseph Gomwalk, Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, Wilson Aniefiok Akpan, Morkwap Dongshal, Abdullateef Ajape Yusuf, Cletus Nwadiogbu, Ahmed Mohammed Bello, Abdulraheem Nurudeen, Patrick Daaor, and Umar Mohammed Hadejia.
The PSC further elevated 13 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) to Deputy Commissioners, including David Gbenga Ojo, Umaru Bello Bichi, Bala Salihu Jarumai, Makanjuola Abiodun, Shafii Abdulkarim, Mohammed Ajose, Mukter Bello, and Dr Onwuegbuzie Gerald Awele, a medical doctor, among others.
In addition, 44 Chief Superintendents of Police were promoted to ACP, while 412 Superintendents were elevated to Chief Superintendents. Notable among them are Victoria Olayinka Mulero, Commanding Officer, SPU Base 22, Oyo State; Alirat Odunola Adedeji; Olufunmilola Oluwaseun Amore; and Ezeokafor Emmanuel Nnonso.
The promotions also extended to Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) elevated to Superintendents, including Rekpene Ukpabi Ekoh of Ebonyi Command, Tonga Monday of 48 PMF Ahoada, Rivers State, and Omiegbu Christian Emenike of Delta Command.
The Commission confirmed several Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs), among them Obike Elizabeth of SPU National Assembly and Adeoye Olufemi of the Lagos State Command.
Chairman of the PSC, DIG Argungu (rtd.), congratulated the newly promoted officers, urging them to rededicate themselves to service and professionalism.
