June 19, (THEWILL)- The Joint Union Congress of the Police Service Commission (PSC) has asked President Bola Tinubu to sack the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, over alleged interference in the recent recruitment of police constables.
The PSC, earlier this month, released the list of 10,000 successful applicants for recruitment into the Constable cadre of the NPF.
But in a statement issued at the weekend by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, the IGP alleged the recruitment process was marred with irregularities and corruption.
However, briefing newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday, the Chairman of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) and Joint Union Congress of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Adoyi Adoyi, alleged that some top officers within the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) attempted to smuggle over 1,000 names into the recruitment list.
Describing as false allegations of corruption levelled against the PSC, the union alleged that the police are employing diversionary tactics intended to prevent the President from noticing the lack of readiness of Police Training Schools to properly train the recruits due to the poor conditions of their facilities.
