July 28, (THEWILL) — Football and music fans have taken to social media to celebrate a viral moment involving England captain Harry Kane and Nigerian music superstar Burna Boy after the pair were spotted enjoying themselves together in New York.
A video circulating online shows the Bayern Munich striker dancing with the Grammy-winning Afrobeats star as Burna Boy’s hit single “Big 7” played in the background.
Members of Burna’s Spaceship crew watched on while the two shared the light-hearted moment.
The clip was initially posted by sports personality Benny, popularly known as @1BENNY7G, before gaining wider attention after Nigerian journalist Oma Akatugba reposted it.
In his post, Akatugba described Burna Boy as “an international music star who comes from Nigeria, not a Nigerian musician,” a statement that generated widespread discussion among fans.
Many supporters described the video as a meeting of two global icons, while others pointed out that Kane’s admiration for Burna Boy has been evident for years.
Back in 2023, the England captain revealed during an ESPN UK interview that “Big 7” was the song he could not stop listening to.
Kane also admitted that watching Burna Boy perform live was one of the experiences he most wanted to have.
His admiration has surfaced on several occasions since then, including a viral dressing-room celebration during his Tottenham Hotspur days when he and former teammate Yves Bissouma danced to Burna Boy’s music after a Champions League victory.
The latest meeting came just days after both men enjoyed successful campaigns at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Kane finished the tournament with six goals as England secured third place, further strengthening his reputation as one of the country’s greatest-ever forwards.
Burna Boy also played a prominent role during the World Cup, performing at both the opening and closing ceremonies and joining Colombian superstar Shakira on the tournament’s official theme song, “Dai Dai.”
The viral video has once again highlighted Burna Boy’s growing international appeal, with fans noting how the Nigerian singer continues to attract admiration from some of the world’s biggest sporting stars.
For Kane, it was a chance to finally share a memorable moment with an artist he has openly admired for years.
For Burna Boy, it served as another reminder of Afrobeats’ continued rise on the global stage, with Nigerian music now enjoying influence that stretches far beyond Africa.
