
SAN FRANCISCO, June 21, (THEWILL) – Real Betis has appointed Alexis Trujillo as manager after sacking Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia, commonly known as Rubi after three consecutive winless games at the restart of the La Liga.
The club in a statement said Trujillo, who was a former club captain, would take charge until the end of the season.
“Real Betis’ board have decided today that Alexis Trujillo will be in charge of the first team.
“The former green and white player and captain, currently sporting coordinator, will be at the helm until the end of the current season.
“The club would like to thank Rubi and his technical staff for all their services and wish them all the best in the future.”

THEWILL reports that Betis’ Saturday 1-0 defeat in the hands of Athletic Bilbao left the club 14th in the table, eight points clear of relegation with just 8 games left in the season.
