August 24, (THEWILL) –Â The military task force, Operation Delta Safe, has allegedly attacked the peaceful harbour of Letugbene Community in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa state on Saturday afternoon.
It was learnt that several houses were burnt down and others wounded in the incident which occurred at about 3 pm on Saturday, August 20, 2022.
According to sources, the military stormed the community in search of a suspected militant leader accused of stockpiling guns in the community, an allegation the community had denied completely.
The military reportedly burnt down over 10 houses and wounded several persons, as the operation lasted till the next morning.
However, residents who spoke to Congress newspaper in anonymity said the military had threatened to return to blow up the community if they failed to evacuate in few days time.
Meantime, the military command could not be reached for comment at the time of filing this report.
