Ibrahim Musa Gusau

August 24, (THEWILL) – Ibrahim Musa Gusau, the chairman of the Football Association Chairmen, met with football officials in Zamfara State to announce his decision to run for president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), at the elections scheduled to hold on September 30, in Benin City, Edo State.

The move, according to Gusau, who is also the FA Chairman for the Zamfara State Football Association and a member of the Organising Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), is intended to foster unity as well as the growth of the local league.

If elected NFF president, Gusau promised, all international players at all levels will be chosen based on merit and that he would focus on finding new talents throughout the nation, while promising a step-by-step implementation of the 10-year Development masterplan recently unveiled by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said: “The basis of football is about grassroots development. I have a robust plan to develop it and we will take it from there, then we will see how we are going to make our league competitive and to be among the best in Africa, if not the world.

“We will see how we are going to implement the plan step by step as being said by the president for us to achieve our objectives and we will do our best in conjunction with other stakeholders to make sure that we implement it for the benefit of Nigerian football.”
