July 21, (THEWILL) — Retired personnel of the Nigeria Police Force have shunned the planned nationwide protest in Benue State regarding unresolved pension matters.

Checks in some streets within Makurdi metropolis on Monday, could not see any sign of agitations arising from what they termed a discriminatory pension scheme.

Although the state chairman of the Retirees on Contributory Pension Scheme (RCPS) could not be reached, however, a member who gave his name as Inspector Ogbu said that on retirement, he has been working on his farm as an alternative for survival.

“I need my benefits when they come. For now, I don’t have time to join the protest because my farm would be wasting off”, Ogbu declared.

In a telephone chat, the Police Public Relations Officer for Benue State Command, DSP Udeme Edet, said the command has not witnessed any form of protest in the state.
