June 17, (THEWILL) — The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has described Akwa Ibom State as one of Nigeria’s most significant contributors to national development, commending Governor Umo Eno for what it termed “purposeful leadership” that has transformed the state into a model of good governance and economic growth.

The commendation came on Tuesday, during a courtesy visit by a delegation of the Commission to Government House, Uyo, where Governor Eno and senior officials of the state government received the team.

Speaking on behalf of the Commission, the Federal Commissioner, Prof. Olusegun Adekunle Wright, said Akwa Ibom has distinguished itself through prudent resource management, visionary leadership and strategic investments that have continued to impact the lives of citizens while contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s economic well-being.

According to Wright, the state has emerged as a symbol of resilience, enterprise and transformational governance, citing achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, aviation, tourism and human capital development.

He noted that the people of Akwa Ibom have consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic, entrepreneurial drive and commitment to excellence, qualities he said have positioned the state among the nation’s leading development success stories.

“Akwa Ibom State has consistently distinguished itself as one of Nigeria’s foremost contributors to national development. Its achievements stand as a testament to what can be accomplished through prudent resource management, visionary leadership and the collective determination of a people united by a common aspiration for progress”, he said.

Wright disclosed that the Commission’s team was in the state to conduct the South-South verification and data collection exercise aimed at strengthening and standardising national fiscal service delivery.

He also expressed appreciation to the Akwa Ibom State Government for its sustained cooperation and support towards the successful implementation of the Commission’s statutory responsibilities.

Responding, Governor Eno welcomed the delegation and assured them of the full support of his administration to ensure a successful exercise in the state.

The governor thanked the Commission for its positive assessment of Akwa Ibom and pledged to sustain development initiatives geared towards improving the welfare of residents.

Eno also acknowledged what he described as the timely release of improved allocations to states by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the funds have enabled sub-national governments to execute impactful development projects and improve living conditions for citizens.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi; Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah; the Head of Civil Service, Mrs Elsie Peters; Executive Assistant and Chief Delivery Advisor to the Governor, Mr Aniefiok Johnson; commissioners and other senior government officials.

Members of the RMAFC delegation included Federal Commissioners Barrister Imo Akpan, Hon. Rakiya Tanko Ayuba-Haruna, Prof. Steve Ugba, Mr Modu Aji-Juluri, directors and other officials of the Commission.
