Roosevelt Ogbonna

August 27, (THEWILL) — Roosevelt Ogbonna has resigned from the Board of Access Holdings Plc as a Non-Executive Director after three and a half years of service in that capacity.

Despite the development, Ogbonna will continue as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank Plc, the flagship banking subsidiary of the Group, but will no longer sit on the holding company’s board.

The announcement was contained in a disclosure filed on the Nigerian Exchange on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, and signed by the Company Secretary, Sunday Ekwochi.

According to the filing, Ogbonna’s resignation was in line with the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Corporate Governance Guidelines for Financial Holding Companies (2023), which limit the number of directors on such boards to a maximum of nine.

“The board appreciates Mr. Ogbonna for his outstanding and continued contributions to the Access Group,” the company stated.

Access Bank transitioned into a financial holding company, Access Holdings Plc, in 2002 after securing regulatory, judicial, and shareholder approvals for a Scheme of Arrangement that transformed the bank from a single commercial entity to a parent company overseeing multiple financial subsidiaries.
